Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 - Doesn't boot on V9

yeah i know this game is pretty old but it's bumming me out that i can't play it.

dms4 lite modded ntsc US v9 ps2 (SCPH-50001) with a BRAND NEW laser. original, retail game.

the game just goes back to the browser when i try to play and i have no idea why. this is the only game that won't work for me. brand new laser, it reads the disc in 2 seconds but when i go to play it goes back to the browser.

i tried both making a backup AND putting it on hdd just for the hell of it, both of those result in it hanging at a black screen instead of going back to the browser like the retail does.

anyone know if there were any problems with certain ps2 versions and this game? there's really no reason it shouldn't work...

i solved my problem, just incase anyone else has something like this happen:

it ended up it had to do with my DMS4's toxicos settings... i had "force NTSC" on and once i changed it to "off" the game ran fine. dunno why that would make an NTSC game not load but whatever it worked!
