I bought Swap Magic 3.8 a while ago, and backed up one of my games and tried it. It didn't work, it took me back to the memory card and game screen, then gave me the red screen of death. I tried FMCB, that wouldn't run the backup either. I burned the game at max speed with ImgBurn onto a DVD, and used the DVD disc of Swap Magic. Today, since I'm waiting for more discs, I tried a real game with Swap Magic, but it gave me the red screen. Can anyone please help me?

What kind of disc did you use ? best to burn the backup as slow as possible (x4 / x6)... also, did you use ESR Disc Patcher ?

When exactly did you swapped the discs ?

I used a DVD-R disc. I burned my back up at max, and yes, I patched it. I loaded up Swap Magic, and exactly when the menu comes up and the disc stops spinning do I swap. I'm worried about the real game not working with swapping. Does that mean my Swap Magic disc is bad?

Never burn a game at max speed. Its best to burn it at 4x or lower.
Second of all, did you block your sensors? Without blocking them, you can never play backups on your ps2.

I thought the entire point of "Swap Magic" was so you don't have to block the sensors and trick the PS2 into thinking the back up is a real game.

You must block the sensors to make Swap Magic work only way to get it to work without is either mod Chip or FMCB
and you have to patch ESR games not Swap Magic games.

    PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred

I believe I tried fmcb once, and it gave me the red screen, too. Is it because I burned my games at max speed, or the quality memory card, or another factor?

burn to slow or fast can cause problems
and burn software DVDdecrepter or ImgBurn is best with PS2
    and best DVD verbatim DVD-R

So why do you all think Swap Magic didn't run the actual game?
