    1. You can do swapping by modifying the PSTwo:
Open up the PSTwo and solder the pins of the button in the back or use tape to make it stay allways pressed. Assemble the PS2 and put a disk in. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO MAKE A DIRECT "EYE CONTACT" WITH THE LENS, when the cover is oppened. Better have sommeting solid (non-transparent!) inbetween. Cut from cardboard or folded paper a litle piece which keeps the button in the front pressed. Start the PSTwo and swap the disks when SwapMagic loads. (The two buttons must remain pressed during and after the swapping) The button in the front is only not-pressed when a new original disk is inserted while the PSTwo is running.

    OR

    2. Using OpenPS2Loader:
Most likely you need to rename OpenPS2Loader ELF to "SWAPMAGIC.ELF" and copy it to the /SWAPMAGIC folder on a USB flash drive or USB HDD.
Follow OpenPS2Loader's instructions: Official OPLv0.8 User Guides

yes FMCB is free MC boot.
what version of slim do you have?
if your version of swapmagic will boot the SWAPMAGIC.ELF from the folder SWAPMAGIC placed in the root of a USB stick then you can run the installer for the updated newbie pack. do as suggested rename a copy uLE to SWAPMAGIC.ELF ( yes in capitals) then when you boot the console with the swapmagic disk in it you should see the swapmagic splash screen for a bit then it should boot uLE. once there you can install homebrew or run OPL etc...

one of two things could be the cause.
1 USB stick MUST be formatted as FAT32
2 USB stick might not be compatible with USB drivers

solution is to reformat USB stick to FAT32 or try a different USB stick. I use an old 128Mb stick branded HP. i think it might be a sandisk but i know it works. Just thought of a third reason it might not work... if you have a sandisk with U3 on it it needs to be removed with the manufacturers tool...
The file setup on the stick looks correct and is basically the same as what i use to install .

thanks m8, tried another flash stick and worked, i installed the normal version is that correct one?

    just few more questions:
will i need to run swap magic each time to play backup games off disc's and hdd?
i have a ps2 iso game on pc, do i just put it on hdd for it to work or will it need patching or anything else done to it?

The Multi-Version is recommented, if your MC isn't incompatible to the FAT-Filesystempatching (some China-Clones normally... Max/Datel, Sony, Katana and so on should work normally).

    just few more questions:

If you hesitate to install either a modchip into your PS2, or FMCB onto your MC, yes.

It won't need patching, but proper naming and located in the correct folder.
