Strange controller problem...

Hi,

I have a rather odd problem and Im not sure if anyone has heard of this or not.

I just bought MLB Slugfest Loaded and I went to play it and one of my controllers wasn't working. The light came on but the game didnt respond to it. It wasnt the controller ports because my 2nd controller worked fine from both ports. And it doesnt seem like the 1st controller is broken because I tried playing other games and it still works with them and like i said the light still comes on when the game starts. So its like Slugfest has a bias towards one controller and won't respond to the other one.

As a side note before I was able to play the game at all my laser was making a grinding sound and wasnt loading anything any game last night. After doing some research I opened the PS2 and fixed the white tab that is attached to the laser unit so it rested better in the groves of that corkscrew gear thing that moves the laser back and forth and it worked fine. Hopefully that makes sense. I dont know if that doing that would've affected anything or not. Like I said its not like the controller ports arent working or that the controller doesnt work on other games.

Anyone familiar with this at all?

i had a problem liek that with burnout 3 , u cant use a psx controller with it, only a dualshock 2 controller..this might be your problem...and about that noise from your laser... get soem alcohol ona cu-tip and clen the lens gently , then get some white grease and out a little bit of it on the "qork-screw thing" and also on the bars that the laser move on.... some games just make tons of noise, it might just be that the CD is messed up or its the kind of cd your using if its a copy

Thanks. I bought the ps2 used and the controller in question is a gray one so I assume that it is a PSx controller. I guess Ill have to go out and buy a new one.
