I found a really good offer on the Logitech Driving Force wheel......its meant to be $79.99, but i found it at $54 at www.compuplus.com, with a $10 rebate, so its just $44 .....everywhere i have gone, i have read nothing about it, but good reviews........what do u people think....is it a good buy ?? Also, i had a few Qs about it, which i asked Logitech.....cant be bothered typing it again, so here is the email.......tried to be a bit formal :P

    To whom it may concern,
I am interested in buying the Logitech Driving Force Wheel (Part Number: 963257-0403). Regarding this product, I have a few questions:

    1) I have a PAL PlayStation2 Console System. I want to know if the NTSC version of this wheel will be compatible with my PAL console. Secondly, will the wheel also work work with my PAL games as well, as well as any NTSC games (if need be in the future) ? I am asking this question because I have a PAL system with PAL games from UK, but I am getting a very good offer for it from a retailer in the USA. So i would like to purchase the USA version, if possible.

    2) I want to know how good is the compatibility of this product, with the commercial games coming out now and in the future. For example, is it so that after some time, its support with commercial games will cease and will be replaced with the more advanced version 'Driving Force Pro' ? Or will it continue to support more games coming out in the future ?

    3) Do the wheels, brakes, and gears respond in analog signals (e.g. speed is proportional to how much the accelerator is pressed, etc.), or digital signals (e.g. its either 'on' or 'off' ?

    Thankyou for your time.

the MC2 is good but most likely won't work with GT4... I have one and use it on games from the PS1 and PS2... but it won't work for GT3... so I'd guess that it won't for GT4... you can always try it though... I got mine for $20 at Walmart.

as for the logitech wheel... it should work on any console. PAL or NTSC.... The support for games is on the game developers and not the wheel... so it's up for grabs on which games will work with it... I know it was made for GT3... but that doesn't even mean that GT4 will support it... and the MC2 and Logitech wheels both use analog brake, gas and streering....

Infact I know that the MC2 has Dual Shock mode (for games that don't support steering wheel), Digital mode (for the old PS1 games), and Steering Wheel (sony specific controller type), and all buttons can be remapped and steering can be calibrated on the wheel.

I've had my MC2 (Mad Catz) for about 4 or 5 years now... and have had very few games not work in one mode or another...

i also have another question........in 1998, i bought a UK PAL PS2 (in its complete original state), with it, i got a true masterpiece......Porsche Challenge....(it was an ace game.., and i was really amazed with the new vibration and analog features of the ps1 remote back then :P)..........a week later i bought a steering wheel for the ps1 from USA (went there for holiday).......when i tried to play Porsche Challange with the wheel,.....there was a problem:

whatever i did on the wheel, the Paused screen used to come up,....even when i slightly turned the wheel, or even pressed the buttons on the wheel !!!!.....but about 1/7 times the wheel worked, provided i didnt turn the wheel too much.....the second i tilted it beyond about 45 degrees....BANG....the Paused screen, and then it would keep repeating !!!......

    what was the problem ??

P.S. Its another fact that I sold the wheel in UK to my own friend,.....and made a profit

the PS2 game maynot support a PS1 controller... I have several games thet when trying to plays multiplayer game that the game moos at me.... Also it might be a bad cord....

did you ever try the PS1 wheel with any other games.... Like I said with the wheel I have doesn't work with all games.. but it works with several of the old PS1 games.. GT, F1 2000, Jarod and Labonte and some others I can't think of at the moment, and PS2 games... NASCAR Thunder 2004 is all I've tried it with and it works....

    GT2 and GT3 it won't work with....

maybe i didnt explain correctly, but i meant that the PS1 steering wheel bought in USA, didnt properly work with a PS1 game (Porsche Challenge) on a PS1 both bought in the UK......PS2 wasnt even out then......

    console(UK), games(UK)
    console(UK), games(USA)
    console(UK), games(any other region)
    console(USA), games(UK)
    console(USA), games(USA)
    console(USA), games(any other region)
    console(any other region), games(UK)
    console(any other region), games(USA)
console(any other region), games(any other region)
