Squares!!

Hey Everyone, my friends PS2 i beleive its a v5/6 and you see squares (purple/blue) pop up on the screen during broswer and any game you play....also its not modded and never was, never played a backup copy on the system, never went online, and its nothing to do with the memery cards....anyone have any ideas?? im clueless

Arrrrrrrrrrr, I've never heard of yon PS2s acting in such a fashion. Definately ye have some defective hardware in it if yer seein' those there squares during game play. If'n its still under warranty take to an authorized Sony repair shop. Or if its returnable to a store, do so and exchange it fer a new one.

the kid opened it up to clean the lens and removed the Void Sticker, so he's shit out of luck huh? could it maybe be a Defective MB? b/c the kid hardly played it and when he did it was only GTA3 Vice city...now its popping up these f*ckin squares and "error reading disk"

Maybe a new laser would fix the problem

Sounds more like some sort of video hardware problem than a laser issue. Your friend is probably looking at a new PS2. I suggest a premodded one.

Edit: Or a Walmart swap
