I have a unmodded v4 that will wait a fewseconds after bieng turned on on then spin the disc REALLY fast. Faster than I have ever seen a disc spin.

Has anybody ever seen this before?

I had a PS2 like this before, and I think it was a bad/weak laser or something. But just so you know it has happened before, so someone should know the exact problem.

I actually just had this happen to me with a failed mod V7 (fixing it for a guy who couldn't solder too good) and it completely destroyed my GT3 disc upon eject.

Needless to say I won't try that again. I suspect it has something to do with the big controller chip on the board since it had a ton of bridges and it wouldn't even turn on until I cleaned it up even further.
