I've seen the memory card/smart media reader which allows you to save all your games on a smart media card, but has anyone ever seen something like this for the sony memory sticks?

if there is, i dontt hink sony would make it, think about this:
PS2 Memory Card:
8MB - 20 bucks = $2.5/MB
Memory Stick (sony or non sony)
128MB - ~50 bucks = $0.4/MB
Sony's not stupid...
Let's hope some asian company makes one then...![]()
the memstick would be some what easier like for file transfers.
just about all other sony devices have use memstick. from their palm pilots to their tvs
anyways i found this picture of the smart media reader...

if i remember correctly, the only reason the mem cards were brought over to the Ps2 was to keep the backward compatibility with the original PlayStation.
Someone's gonna ask this so i'll just answer it now. If the mem. card slot was kept for backward compatibility purposes why didn't they just include a mem stick slot as well?
Answer: That would heighten the production costs because then you'd need more parts. 2) Mem. sticks are quite a bit more expensive than mem. cards despite the obvious $ p/MB advantage.
I wouldn't completely count out Sony releasing a Mem stick adaptor though, but i'm surprised one hasn't surfaced from China (this includes Taiwan and HK btw since they're both China's territories, technically) all this time. I mean it couldn't be THAT hard since the ps2 mem cards also use the same magic-gate platform/encryption.
On a side note, what happened to that china made magic-gate compatible (cracked) 16mb mem cards? I remember it was posted quite a while back.
I don't think anyone really cracked Magic-Gate protection.
If that was real we woulde a huge amount of cheap memory
cards by now.
that's why i'm asking what happened to it. I was looking forward to cheaper memory cards
.
