SONY DVD Controller compatible with PS2 v9?

I've heard reports that the new v9 IR can be used with the latest SONY DVD IR Controller .
Is this true? Has anyone tested this functions..
If it is, then I might be able to use my current dvd player controller to control the dvd playback on the v9 PS2...

indeed, they all work. with the built in ir censor. but you wont have the added functions like on/off reset and eject.
