I'm going to start running PS1 backups on my Slim PS2. I've run into the same problem as I had when I first decided to install FMCB back in February...NO BLANK MEDIA TO DO IT! (plus I need to get a PS1 memory card since mine aren't with me).
Back then I read that DVD-Rs were the best and of the brands recommended I went with Sony (it made sense lol). Shall I just do the same with PS1 backups then, Sony CD-Rs?
I use Sony CD-Rs for my PS1 backups personally, but given a choice I recommend verbatim CD-Rs as they are said to perform the best on the original PS1 (which I use) meaning they should perform better than Sonys on the PS2 also.
That being said, they do work ok on my PS1 and PS2 slim. Though the slim has a much better lens. I'm unable to try them on my PS2 fat as I don't have an original breaker pro disc so I can't boot them.
Thanks for your help. Sony or Verbatim it is then. Also your comments about the PS2 slim laser reassure me. I always get scared that the thing is going to just give way and die one day, even though I hardly use it :lol:
No probs, the lens on the slim is far better than the fat (far better). The only problem I have at the moment is that it looks like I gotta open up my damn PSX again to adjust the laser as it got a little knock the other day and has started skipping when reading games again! Doh!Quote:

I found them to degrade after a few years Sony Supremas they leak around the edges unless I got a couple of bad batches go with Verbatim instead.
For PS1 backups, I personally used to use TDK CD-R, had all kinds before including Verbatim Datalife and my PS1 would not read them at all although I put that down to my PS1's laser not being correctly adjusted at the time, either that or it's just crap and they all work perfectly on the PS2.
