Hi, I have installed a subzero 2 modchip and subzero laser fix into a pal V12. I installed the laser fix first and tested it. But once I installed the modchip the pstwo stopped reading dvds (copy or original). The dvd spins slowly, in sort of half turn bursts. Cds booted fine (copy and original). I have backed out of the install and cleaned all points. -No Joy. Removed laser fix -no joy. Now I guess its the laser but the coils are both 4.5ohms, could something else in the laser be broken apart from the coils? I would like to be able to test to make sure its the laser before I order a new Laser.
    Thanks!

usually when the laser turns in short bursts, it means the laser needs replacing but it sounds strange that it worked beforehand, when you removed everything did you reconnect the cut track from the fix and also check if the resistors you soldered to havent fried from overheating.

OK, one of the 303 resistors is open. Can I just use a regular size resistor to replace it?
    Thanks!

Yes you could use a regular size but that will be quite bulky when trying to use the fix aswell

I would first of all try to reflow the solder around the resistor and instead of testing directly on the resistor test the two VIAs that are connected to the resistors pads

    Danny

Yes I would expect that maybee the diode has burnt out.

Out of interest do you have the slim laser (802W) or the wide laser (not sure of marking)

    regards,
    Danny
