If I go out and buy a random USB mic what are the chances of it working?

Best and most compatible Mic set. It has a switch to go between singstar and Kar rev, aka every other game mode.

Block Head Duet Set.

It gives you the possibility to use two mics with normal 1/4" plugs at once and is also singstar, kar rev, GHWT, GHM and RB compatible, for PS2, PS3, Wii, and 360 consoles.

Their is also a forum thread on RB's forum for it.

My friends studio quality mics work great with this thing, the included ones are decent too.

I got the offical ones new for $6.

They wonk on rockband also but not Krev but I don't care about that because you have to intentionally sound terrible to make progress in that game on normal level and hard level is impossiple.
