Should Slim PS2 be making buzzing sound?

Hmm, my slim ps2 only make a little loud noise when the game "Loading". Sound exactly like PC dvd rom drive when reading heavily scratched dvd disc.

I'd hardly call it noisy either - my hardly makes a sound. You can hear the laser moving while it reads, but that about it.

You sure its not vibrating on a surface. if you pick it up does it still make a buzzing noise?

I can hear the laser moving too, but the buzzing is separate and is the fan. There are two distinct periods of time.
1)First 40 or so minutes of operation. Can occasionally hear disc reading sounds, but apart from that pretty much silent and can't be heard over TV.

2)40-1 hour. Fan becomes much louder and can be heard over the TV. Kinda annoying and makes me want to stop playing.

When it is reading a CD with dark blue underneath (like Xploder) it is even more noisy. Like a loud whirring sound.

When I pick it up it still makes the sound. It is on a hard flat TV stand that came with my Panasonic TV. The sound only stops when the console has been turned off.

Maybe different models of slim PS2 make different amounts of sound? Mine is SCPH-77003 charcoal-black. It seems unlikely that I have got two faulty PS2s in a row. I just ordered Sennheiser HD-201 headphones so I can block out the noise. I would be interested to find out which model of PS2 you have orangpelupa and kl1k.

I've got a v9 and a v12, and I've repaired/mod'd just about every other version.

I have scph 70006CB, its almost 3years now.
Btw, i turn on my Ps2 with .hack//g.U. Looping playing the intro video for about 4 hours. And it still silent.
Although my ps2 hot,The fan still spinning silent,

the only loud sound it make only when loading. The laser lens moving.

btw, i live in indonesia, so the room temprature is also hot.

This problem has me stumped. Two slim PS2s and still the same thing. I live in the UK so it's not a hot environment like Indonesia. The console is behind a glass door on the TV stand and still you can hear it. Oh well, I think the only thing I can do is use headphones while playing.
