When you mod the system, it drops the frequency on the laser, thus making it slightly weaker than it was originally.
This normally won't make an anywhere near noticible difference, but in cases like yours, it can sometimes render the PS2 unusable, until you take the chip back out again.
How the **** is that dying already anyway ? I have one of the first V1 consoles that came out of Japan, and that still works almost flawlessly, despite that hammering that I have given to it overtime, and as most people will tell you, V3 consoles are far better made than their V1 counterparts.
Why the **** would I want a Caravan that's got no ****in' Wheels ?
