Shadow of the Colossus low FPS problem?
Shadow of the Colossus low FPS problem? –
I have a Ps2 Slim PAL version both Hard and Soft (FMCB) modded.
I cant seem to achieve a stable frame-rate for this wonderful game.
First I bought the original PAL DVD - fps drops
Then I ordered the much cheaper but imported NTSC DVD - fps drops
I borrowed my friend's Pirated Copy (PAL)- fps drops
Then finally ripped both the DVD (Original PAL and NTSC) and played them through OPL 0.9 - still the f**king framerate drops.
I cant seem to enjoy the fu**ing game with the damn lag.
I loved to play it on my friends Ps3 and went and wasted a lot of money in buying the damn games to play on my fu**ing ps2 only to get a choppy-ass game.
So my question to you is- Can anything be done to make the game smoother? (30 fps maybe?)
Any answers will be greatly appreciated.
Note: All other games play fine from both - my usb HDD and DVD.
Isnt this because of the game code itself? I've mean to have heard that the game itself have some framerate issues. In that case there is nothing you can do about it.
I guess you can always try PCSX2 (PS2 emulator for PC) if you have a powerful enough PC. Then you can see if you have framerate issues in the game as well.
EDIT: If you have a PS3, the game is available there as well. I'm not sure how the framerate is on the PS3 version though. If you have PS+, then Shadow Of The Colossus HD and ICO HD are avaiable this month for no extra cost (at least in Europe).
If there is indeed an FPS issue, then the medium the game is played from will not matter. You will only see a difference in load times, not FPS. I would look elsewhere.
the game is said to run at ~20fps on ps2. the ps3 version has stable framerate.
Thank you yes159, indirect76 and yoshi314 for speedy and detailed replies.
I think I would have to live with it, that's all.
