You need an IDE drive...sorry.
damn lol are any ide drives compatible?
You can use a SCIS to IDE converter it make it work
check out http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/ for compatible ide hdd's.
a scsi wont work. you'll have problem fitting the scsi/ide converter as well as the hdd into the ps2.

A SCSI will most likely work with a SCSI2IDE bridge,
however you will have major problems making the device fit INSIDE the PS2;
there might be room in HDCombo if you burn an opening for the SCSI2IDE-bridge.
Well there's also a problem with a 10k spin drive getting really really hot inside the ps2. My 7200 rpm drive gets a bit hot so i know a 10k would just heat the hell up. There also wouldnt be any real performance difference. I had a 10k WD 18.7gb drive (which i got for free out of an old server from work) die on me but since it had a 5 yr warranty (still had like 4 months left on it) they sent me a 160gb ide replacement.![]()

It's impossible to fit it inside with the bridge so don't worry about that :-p
I now have one 500GB seagate in each my PS2s.
I'd just find another use for that drive. Even if you could somehow convert the SCSI to IDE that would be like painting tie-dye colors on a BMW.
