I was wondering if it is possible to transfer save files from a memory card to pc usbing one of the memory card adapters that are built for the ps3, or will this corrupt the files and not work.

Possible but better idea is making whole memory card image and extract all saves directly to *.psu containers (because if you just copy folders with saves you loose time stamps).

The best idea is just used chipped/exploited PS2 and copy them to usb using uLE (also to *.psu).
