    Hi,

I've got an unmodded Pal scph-30003R which spins silver backed DVD/PS2 at an incredible speed without reading them. However, PS1 and dark/puple backed PS2 games work fine and the discs spin as normal.

Took the laser out, cleaned it etc, but still no use.

The laser ,I think, is a Sanyo HD7 (has no sony marks on it) - does it need to be replaced? If so, where do I find a cheap one - looked at the usual places, but damn expensive, and mostly unavailable! Can other laser types be used?

Or is it a fault somewhere?

    Thanks for any help

    I have the same problem.

    Try http://www.saveware.com/PS2LaserCtoRConvert.htm

Lots of people have success with it, but I dont :-(
