Where do you cut a trace that runs under the LA?
You can probably just remove the 50 Fuse right next to the LA that powers pin 17 and solder to the pin side. I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS IDEA ! Fuse may be powering some other IC? But I doubt it!

you can find the alternative romeo mod here, its in spanish but the pictures tell the story, I do all mine like this, its so easy, just cut a track and connect a wire, no risk of breaking a leg off an LA or something like that. Just cut the track and then connect to USB port 5 volts.

Wow, lifting the pin is way easier than all that mess!
Next time I do a romeo, I?m going to remove the fuse and if it?s not providing power for any other IC then the V9 will work fine without it. That will tell me if I can just remove the fuse and solder to the fuse pad. That would be the easiest.

Whats hard about cut a track, connect a wire, if thats harder than lifting a pin and connecting a wire, I hope you dont do modding.

Lifting a pin isnt that hard to do if you take the time and good tools

I know lifting a pin isnt hard for most of us, but newbies may break it off and then there in deep shit, a cut track can easily be rejoined again, whereas putting a pin back on isnt easy, so I would suggest for newbies to just cut the track, its a huge track, not some fiddly little thing and all can be done even without magnification, just check with multimeter for no continuity on either side of cut and connect a wire, done

Good point, a newb without proper tools shouldn?t be lifting pins. As for people with the experience to lift a pin, it is a very quick and easy thing to do.
I just checked fuse PS11, It can?t be removed like I suggested. To bad, it would have been the easiest fix of all. I kinda suspected it wouldn?t work because someone would have been doing it by now!

newbies could screw up both methods tho - breaking off the pin, and cutting the track too deeply going through the other layers. with either method you need to take it slowly and dont be in a rush.
