Reset switch

Hello every one, got a problem here.

I have a HD in my ps2 ver7 and is working fine i can play games installed, when i tap (to reset) reset switch the ps2 turns off is this normal? thanks you.

maxtor 120G IDE
datel Max memory card

when hdd is in and running, no reset

Tap it twice rapidly to reset and once to turn it off!

but dont tap twice to reset because it is hard on HD let it turn off so HD spins down then restart

I think shutting down and then fire up the console immediately is worse for the hdd(how do you do for your computer?)...the tap twice thing has been set by sony when there is a hdd connected, they sure knew what they were doing!

now we know, i can't wait to try it out, can somebody please write (only if you have time) a manual or a data base here on ps2-scene how to use a moded ps2 console, coz i thought i broke the switch.
