reset button

my friend just got a new leveling arm to open and close the dvd/cdr tray, he also put a new ribbon on the reset button. now the problem is the tray ejects at random and the blue light blinks all the time. could anyone tell me what the problem could be?

possibly installed the ribbon cable incorrectly - or else the problem is with something else like a bad install etc and you only thought you needed a new ribbon cable.
