Dumb question maybe, but I can't seem to get the final answer on this, but on the PS2 slim, with the new Sony remote which has the green reset button, are you able to switch on the PS2 with that remote? Or is it a reset for only once the PS2 is on?

The PS2 slim front button acts both as a reset and power button. To power on/off, you hold the button down for a couple of seconds. To reset, you press it quickly.

I mean on the DVD remote will it power on from standby via the remote? It's just that I read mixed reviews about this, some saying the remote cannot power on, and some saying it does. I have 70003 if it makes a difference.

Ah. Well, I don't know about the factory Sony remote, but my Pelican works just fine. As I said about the button in the front, keep the power button pressed on the remote and it will power it on/off. Press it quickly and it will reset.

Yes the Sony remote with the power button will wake any v9 and above PS2 from standby, as well as reset and power it off.

As was said before, it's better if you can power both the PS2 and display via DC to DC converter instead of going from AC to DC, as it is less stress on the battery, thus longer run time.

    Problem Solved.

I found this 12v IR Extender on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12V-IR-Extende...-/290432406670

It's dirt cheap and for a reason, the power supply cable is missing and this unit comes with no instructions.

I soldered the power clip wires manually had to guess which was + and - but figured it out.

The black box sits near the PS2, its pretty powerful I sat it on top of the PS2 and it still worked, so no need to have it on the IR sensor itself. The eye is tiny but amazing pickup no need to point the remote at it directly picked up really well.

I did not have a PS2 remote, so I used my Logitech Harmony remote and programmed PS2 remote from there database, everything seemed to work, but the up and down did not, not sure if thats just the remote programming codes, I have ordered an original Sony remote, I hope the up and down works on that to navigate SMS

I am sure that its just a programming issue on the remotes end on why your not able to scroll up or down via the controller..

Im sure a legit remote will work just fine as all other buttons are working well with the IR exstender you should not have any issues..

Good right up and pix of your final project would be nice to have posted here for others that may be interested..

The proper remote has been dispatched so should be know soon enough, there no special setting I need to make in SMS? (control port)

Sure if I have not mentioned, I have one working version but it uses an inverter and switch that is no longer for sale and other similiar solutions are so expensive and cost more then a PS2. I have 2 mates that want to do the same thing but at a reasonable cost, hence all my questions lately. But once I have all the parts and console and we install in his car, I will take pics of the parts, prices and install. Least I can do for all the help and advice.
