R-type laser swapped in place of 400C (V7)
R-type laser swapped in place of 400C (V7) –
Ok I had a customers laser just die right in front of me the other night - bugger my luck is bad at the moment... Was doing nothing to the station outside of testing originals - the lens was a bit dirty and it must have resulted in the DVD laser diode being ready to die any moment - that moment unfortunately just happened to be when I had the station
OK so DVD side died on 400c, CD side works perfectly still. Have a R-type lens from a V9 just sitting around - status unkown - so swapped it into the V7.
DVDs work a treat now... problem is CD's don't... (again my luck )
Just curious - is it possible that the CD's fail only because the R-type is not 100% compatible with a V7 set up for use with 400C lasers, or is it more likely that the CD side was already dead (hence the fact I had it lying around...).
Is this why the EEPROM needs updating in some cases when changing laser types?
or is it usually the case that a change of type from 400C to R-type or vice versa should fail completely or work completely? (never tried this before hence my ignorance - always thought it was simply not possible without using lens changer or similar).
Hi shadow, I have done this and it needed the lenschanger program and then it worked perfect, could be the laser is fine just needs the eeprom flashed, if you havent got the means to flash it you can post to me and I will do it.
