Questions before I buy New Slim PS2.

Just about to by a new slim PS2 from UK. I was wondering if anyone knows of any common problems encountered whilst using this console. I heard the fan has been removed. Is this true? Wouldn?t this cause the CPU to overheat and switch off automatically. I would hate for that to happen whilst I?m really getting into a game.
Can someone clarify this and let me know of anything else I should look out for.

not sure if the fan is removed but if sony designed it this way then you can be sure they tested and made sure its not going to freeze and cause problems. this isn't a computer we're talking about.

the only thing you really need to be concerned about is the laser burnout issues which can happen on UNmodded pstwo systems. please search the forum(s) for discussions on this.

the pstwo has a smaller fan, which doesn't sound much at all.. its also heatsensitive so it doesnt spin on the fastest speed all the time..

well im using one of these ps2slims and it works fine...(mine is chipped with magic V KX+)
