Question when buy DMS, why ask for IRS#?

hello ppl , i order my DMS3 a couples days a go , and now the company i bought my DMS3 ,
the company has sent me a email , and ask me for my IRS #
u guys can read it and tell what u guys think about it ?

We have been informed that your package is on hold by FedEx Ground. The invoice we
supplyed had a declared value too low. We have to fax them a new invoice and they will
release the package. But, only for theses few packages on hold, I need to write the IRS
number of the importer on the new invoice. So please, email me as soon as possible the
IRS number of the consignees (the person who was supposed to receive the package)..

I beleave they are asking you for your social security number (I might be wrong). If this is what they want under no reason do they need this and I would highly recommend to never give out your social security number. Who did you buy your chip from?

Call FedEx. Give them the tracking number. If it's a scam, you will know so in short order. IF the request is legit, you'll hear it from FedEx, along with their reasoning behind it.

Arrrrrrrrr, exactly. And if'n it be FedEx holding for wrong declared value on the package, they'd a be contactin' yon sender and NOT yon reciever! I smells a rotten fish somewhere!

my wife just replay the Divineo company with that name and SSN , thats why i`m worried much about it , and i had talk to FEDEX this morning, The laddie ( Fedex ) she told to dont give my info ( SSN ) to anybuddy , I just spoke with the Fedex and I asked them about my package,and I gave them my track
number ,and they told me my that my package is coming by the 16th and it isn't yet in the area
code that I live in. (* i mean my package never getting hold*)
