nothin is immpossible. there are similar things to wat u are talking about. the only problem is that it will probly have to run off a cd for most users if the chip it self can't boot it from the memorycard or hdd. there could be somthing similar but won't bee the same
Jo, i saw something like i mean on a dms3 or matrix infinity but isn't it possible with a chip (without a flash possiblity)
i think on somthing like hacking the ps2, there is surly a chip how have the files for the standart menu.
maybe someday it will become reallity ^^
As of right now, I would just suggest using PS2MENU. From there, you can load any homebrew applications and more from HDD, MC, CD, and Network...as well as transfer files between all of those and lots of other options.
PS2MENU wold get my vote as most usefull and in some ways best homebrew application.
ok, going to test it ^_^
can i do something like copying files form my pc to my ps2 hdd with it?
Make a decent menu program with Mediaplayer (but please remove all those time-wasting ego-tripping screens, just a functional menu please), Memcard<->Hdd copier utility, DNAS patcher ;-) (it should be possible to run it from PS2 and patch images already on the HDD with id#s from your original cd/dvds so we can also run our online games from hdd), Skype with eyetoy and usb headset support ;-) (yeah dreaming), ICQ/MSN/Yahoo chat with USB keyboard, ftp...bla bla bla
Install this as the first "disc" on the hdd with HdLoader as "_menu" and start it using HdLoader.
Next step is to make a HDLoader that can be booted from Hdd with DMS3 (like the hddbrowser) or from memorycard without the original disc. Hehe.
So sure it is possible to make it now that we can boot things from hdd.
HdLoader guys should get a reward for the best new PS2 utility of the decade. Great value for people without modchips.
gilwap....my hd laoder works from hdd,
i copyed the files from cd with the ps2menu from ps2dev and it really works ^^
ps2reality player works to :]
to answer your previous question Hisoka, yes you can (apparently) copy files from PC to your PS2 HDD using ps2menu and ps2link, however i have not done it.
it should be easier with the new ps2ftp comming out shortly.
you are right, didn't get the ps2menu tramsver work -_-
and now all are hot for the ftp release :]
