question about runing cd-r on my ps2

hey,im doing dvdrip backups on Silver ilne Cd-r or TDK cd-r
speed:x4 or x8
i just heared that if im playing cd-r on my ps2 the laser can go after 3 months or something like this. and i just wanna know if i can steel run cd-r backups. its true that after something like 3 months the laser goes.
or its can be used a year?

Some PS2 have been known to go bad in 3 months just playing originals!

You?ve got a Romeo Mod so you?re off to a good start and if you?re lucky, your V9 might have a 400C laser and not the HD7.

but its can be ok year if im playing cd-r
and dude i think who selled me the ps2 removed the hd7 and putted a new one
