hi, i dont have a fliptop but i have unscrewed all the screws so i can access the cd cover so i can do a disk swap this way. On the cd cover or that black thing that covers the disc and laser (not sure what its really called) has a warning, laser radiation do not stare at laser something to that effect.

I was just wondering i dont look at the laser as when i pop up the disc i cover my eyes and use a disc to cover it right away, is the laser radiation really bad? like i know radiation is all around with things we use but its not good. Is a fliptop better or its basically the same thing but instead of having all the screws off and opening the ps2 case to access it, it just flips open but the laser is still exposed right in a fliptop?

i just dont want to damage anything and still want to have children lol.

    thanks

If you are using a swap disc or cogswap or something like that, when it is time to swap the disc, the laser will have stopped radiating and the disc will have stopped spinning, once you put everything back on and press x to start or whatever the laser will radiate again but will now be covered, so you and the kids will be alright, as far as looking in to the laser when it is shining red, I wouldnt do it and who knows how much radiation is too much, I had cancer as a kid, its not nice, so avoid the laser when shining red to be safe, but as I said when its time to change the disc all will be safe.
