    Hi

I have a problem with NTSC PSX games on my modded PS2.

    PAL PS2 v14
XenoPS modchip with Infinity 1.83 Bios
    PAL 21' LCD TV
    connected with original Sony cables

right off the bat: yes, my TV supports NTSC video signal. I can play my PS2 NTSC imports as well as my xbox NTSC imports in full color.

If However I want to play an NTSC PSX game (Legend of Mana, Star Ocean 2), the game starts in black and white only (plus the picture is a bit wavy). In the infinity menu, PSX screen fix is turned on. If I turn it off, the NTSC games start in color, but are totaly off center (lower third of the screen is black, upper third of game image missing (lost in space). So I either can play in Black/white, or with the image way off center.

Is there any way to play the games centered and in color? Might it have to do with the cable used? I think i remember myself having played Legend of Mana centered and in color before, but I used a different cable. A third party one, which didn't split into red/white/yellow first, but was directly cennecting to SCART. But I can't get hold of this cable for another 2.5 weeks, so I can't test it. Plus I am not even sure if I ran it in full color on the PS2 or if I emulated it on my Xbox.

    any help/input would be appreciated

    tia

Your TV can handle 60Hz but not NTSC color. What you need is "PAL60" which is basically NTSC vsync(60Hz) with PAL color but I don't know if your clone BIOS can do that(or even the latest MI BIOS, for that matter).

An RGB cable should resolve this problem, however.
Visit the Crystal Chips website for information and documents on the best chip available for v1-v16 PS2 at http://www.crystal-chips.com/.

no. My TV supports NTSC. I know for sure, cause Xbox games show in color, even if the system is set to NTSC (which gives NTSC video mode)

According to the readme with the infinity f/w 1.82, it does support pal60,

VGA : Enable 640x480 VGA mode.
But since your chip is a clone, I wouldn't go in to the config menu if I were you since clones tend to fry if you do. And just like CrystalChip said, RGB cables should fix it. I know I've seen a few threads around here with the exact same problem that were resolved with those cables and I believe that one or two of them are in the Matrix section under the modchips.

no I can go to that menu easily without problems. And I can change stuff without it breaking. But I have no problem with the PS2 Video Fix. PS2 works fine with NTSC games. It's only PSX NTSC games that don't work correctly. Tried playing around with the PS2 Video Fix nevertheless, but without results.
