Psx games on dvd? –
I read in a few forums that its possible to put several psx games on a dvd and play them on a ps2(I imagine they use a modchip to boot them). So far i havent seen a method to do this(though people claim they have done it, but until i see solid proof i say bull****).
So my question is: can this be done? If it cant, why? (please be as technical as possible)
Hmm...It's possible put few PSX games on CD. The PSX games on DVD is not possible.
It is possible to make a compilation of PSX games on a CD (you'd need a small program which would enable you to select games on startup from a menu, which I have personally done), but not a DVD. That would require that the console have access to the DVD side of things while in PSX mode, which is impossible since the driver does not support that. The only method of getting PSX games stored on DVD to work would be to write an emulator which runs in PS2 mode and therfore gives you access to all PS2 devices, such as HDD, USB and the DVD drive.
As far as I can tell, ffgriever has an emulator in the works currently which should support this (and more). But no download or release date has been provided thus far, and all we can do is wait for that day (hard, I know!).
I know about the emu(waiting anxiously for it) and i know its not possible to run psx games from dvd(since psx mode does not have access to dvd), i was looking for a technical answer(which you provided) so I can put a few rumors to rest. thanks for the reply
