Gaming consoles are probably three or four times more stressful on a laser than any other device. With audio CDs and DVD movies the data is almost one complete stream while game data is spread out across different parts of the disc. I suspect RPGs are probably the most stressful type of game because of the repetiton and variety of data.
Anyway, I have also found that the slim lasers are more responsive to both original and copied media. I can't say for a fact that load times are noticeably faster, but the boot rate is definitely better.
