PSTwo DVD? –
03-06-2005,06:57 AM
What is default region of SCPH-70004 CB DVD?
Firmware is 3.10E on my console and shows as region 1 USA
I'm not able to change region from parental Control neither.
Tho, bought from local PS2 retailer week ago and i guess Estonia is belongs to regions 2 or 5 ...
Anyone from Europe, Finland or Sweden or Russia who around
here in forums could check their PSTwo for firmware and region,
and let me know what those are for U.

Estonia belongs, as far as i know, to region 2. Region 1 ps2s isn't able to play pal region dvddiscs due to some memorythingie, search the forum. If your ps2 is a region 1 player, it's been brought to you from the us.. Does it play pal games? If not, you've been cheated..

I bought got 2 original PS2 games from my friend who has old 5000x model modded,
those games are working fine, also some 5 other PS1 games i bought as used ones -
work.
Seems - problem lies in DVD-function only. Tho im unsure if my 20 years old & still working
Philips 25'' mark 25CE6270/39 TV is PAL or NTSC.
Self-written DVD-s play well ...

if the games you bought from your friend is pal and they play nice on your tv its either a pal tv or its a ntsctv with pal support. i play on a 20 years old thomson tv (pal), it supports ntsc also, so it isnt possible for a so old tv to support both formats. im still waiting on my new pstwo so i cant help you with the firmware.. the movies that you cant play, are they region 2? does they work on a standalone region 2 dvdplayer?

I tested em on my laptop which i switched to region 5 and region 2 - i can do it by software and also turn DVDplayer to region free - it worked while i inserted disc DVD in region 1 i got same error on laptop. Not supported region. so problem was not in DVD's.
I guess i have to ask Sony tech support for matter ...
Or *snip* swap it in store for normal model ... trying get older 5000x series model
