I left the tray open for about a week and then finally noticed it. I open the top casing and started dusting. Upon putting the lid back on, I hear snap, of course im thinking "oh s***!" I pull out this part, as show in an attached pic (with more). It's plastic, purple, clear, and rectangular, and it looked like it snapped off at the top (like the pic). I have no clue where it goes on the motherboard. I took screenies of my motherboard as well, to see if anyone can recall where it's supposed to be.

Please help, I wanna make sure my PS2 will function with or without it.

    thank you

hey, never hurts to ask (or does it? ). Maybe someone knows of an answer. I'll wait and try tomorrow, until then I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the broken piece and its purpose.

again, pictures are attached on the 1st post to those who are viewing this thread.
