I just got another PS2 working well powering up and I have hardly any video to no video at times. It seems to be very dim when there is video but the audio is fine. Any idea what could cause this? I changed the output connectore on the mainboard and had no change, its not the cables running to the T.V since I tested that on another ps2 system and they work fine. Any ideas? Or has anyone ever experienced this and got it fixed somehow?

Sounds like a component on the board is bad.. which component is another question, only a ps2/sony tech would know. Get a replacement board. Or if you were soldering on it, it could be a solder ball shorting out 2 or more pins on a IC chip.

Nope no solder, and thats not what i wanted to hear becasue the only replacement board i have is a V5 and it uses all ribbon cable, not a mix like the v4.... Not unless someone knows how i can convert the cd drive to a v5 hookup...

You can't hook a V5 up to a V4 system. You will have to get a replacement V4 motherboard.

You will win the lottery in 10 days and split the money with me. (Is that good? haha)

There are no working V4 motherboard for $15. You could try to repair it but you need some experience in repair.

I'm not sure if there's anyone out there that will give you all the information you need to try to repair that thing. There's a lot of understand and know to repair a PS2. It's all about experience.

well I still done know what would be causing the poor video, anyone else ever experience this?

To explain more when the ps2 starts up there is a picture, but the actual blue background is black and the white lettering is somehwat green, buit then the screen flashes out.
