just curious what media you guys are using. mine will read a dvd-r (i only use verbatim/tdk) but the access is so slow anymore (even when listing with LaunchELF) that they just don't boot or they 'try' to boot but the sequence is like running them on an alpha ps2 emulator (never gets to the splash screens). cd-r still are read just fine. but in the end, before i go and buy some dvd+r to test compatibility i'd be interested in hearing what you guys find is the most reliable media type.

    thanks

i've tried blowing any dust from and around the lens and also gently wiping the lens with a swap and alcohol to clean it. didn't seem to do anything.

here's what's really strange is that dvd-r, dvd+r movie discs read just fine. cd-r game discs and of course original game discs also run fine. just for some reason dvd-r game discs are slow as hell.
