    I have a v2 and a v9 and I'd like to know what the actual difference between the v1 and v2, and the v9 and v10?

    I tried to find this info through diagrams and modchip descriptions that it really only shows you how to identify different versions, not the differences in hardware/firmware

    for v9 and v10 I've seen conflicting statments on different sites, some say it's just a firmware difference with the same mobo, and other say it's a different mobo and firmware altogether. I'm just curious if anyone has any $0.02 cents on the subject

    Also I'm kinda interested in getting a v10, if anyone here has one up for sale that'd be awesome

    If I remember correctly the V9 has a seperate chip for IR, where the V10 doesn´t have it anymore and the function is included in the IOP.

    From V0-1/1-2, I only know about the BIOS-Difference.

    @N98bCadrin:
    I have a v9 or 10 up for sale right now. I don't know exactly how to tell the difference either. Once you figure it out I'll check it and let you know. Strange how I have had what you wanted two times now.

    To know if you have a v9 or a v10, a v9 has date codes 3a, 3b, and 3c. v10 is date code 3d. If you have a v10, I am more than willing to take it off your hands, I've been looking for one for a while now. I have a v2 and a v9.

    Is there any internal way to tell, such as on the mobo layout or markings. I ripped the sticker off long ago since it was already partially off and it was annoying me.

    I'm still not clear as why you want a v10 when it isn't even clear what the diff between it and a v9 is? Did they fix it so it doesn't need a romeo mod to prevent frying the drive controller chip/ and or laser?

    It seems to have similar problems to the v9 that you were talking about when it comes to the laser controller chip burning out, but I need a v10 for different reasons. (partially just because I want one, but other reasons too)

    But yes, there is a way to tell, give me the version of the dvd player (the one in the bios) and I'll tell you what version you have.

    Just as a reminder: press triangle at the main system menu.

    Well I have 4 v9 or 10s, what number DVD player specifically should I be looking for?
    The three I have with me are all DVD 3.00U .

    I'm so glad you didn't tell me I have to strip it down to the mobo

    PS2s with DVD player version 3.00x are version 9 consoles while those with 3.02x are v10.
