    i worked on my slimline v. 12 for hours in a attempt to install a new laser. After close examination of the new PVW-802W i noticed a soder joint that was sodered different from the old laser. I used the soder remover and clean it up to make it look identical and it fired right up. I also set the resistance to DVD 903 and CD 432. I have not seen any information on this in any forum i attached a pic of this as well.

    Yes, always remove the anti-static solder to get it working.
    You did not need to adjust the laser pots, because every laser is different.
    Every laser is different, every laser produces an amount of light which can be different.
    Some need more asjustment then other, because others produce less light with the same amount of current.

    The higher the resistence is in the beginning, the better the laser is.
