PS2 or PStwo? - Help Please!

Im really keen on getting a PStwo and should have one with me within the month end but after going through most of the threads here, it doesnt seem like i should! Ive thought of getting the PStwo+Matrix Infinity and maybe the diode fix if it really helps.
Or should i just get the PS2? It doesnt have a lot of the problems the PStwo seems to have so i guess thats a better opiton, but im dying to play GTA:SA and have heard not too encouraging things about the PS2 with it...quite a few have had their PS2's busted, but not one PStwo had a problem with it and it even seems to run a bit faster.
What should i do?

gta sa does not run faster off the pstwo.... just go with the ps2 so u can also thorw a HD on it instead of relying on usb slow downs.... the pstwo burn out after just watching a DVD movie so i wouldnt even trust it with a game... just make sur eu get a good ps2 version that copmes with a good lens , not the open faced sanyo crap

hmmm....i think i might go for a 50004. thats a v10 isnt it? any recommendations for a good ps2 version?

I got a pstwo almost as soon as I heard they could be modded. For now i'm using tap mod on internal switch and toggle switch on external switch and i've played everything from GTA:SA to Castlevania SOTN to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in it and it still plays everything flawlessly but after seeing that melted laser in that other thread I don't even wanna put power to it's board. I'd go with getting a ps2 from a pawn shop for as cheap as possible and buy a laser for it as it will probably have DREs.

With the Matrix-Fix the only difference between the PS2 and the PSTwo is the fact that you can use a IDE hard drive with the former. And can you actually use a usb hard drive/usbkey with the PSTwo to store stuff?

Some reported failures even with the Matrix Fix.
