PS2 plays games but not movies ??

Hello everyone ,

I have a PS2 v9 50002 and it plays original PS2 and PS1 games perfectly . But it does not play original DVD movies or DVD-R's .

I have added the Modbo 4 (matrix) chip and its still doesnt play movies .

I have fiddled with modbo settings but I still cant get it to work .

When I nsert the DVD movie it has the No Data Screen spins a little and looks like it tries to read but then just gets the DRE error .

Im hoping its a weak laser .

Any ideas people ?

What about DVD9/Double-Layer-Games?

But it does not play original DVD movies or DVD-R's .

That's not normal (as you already guessed

That shouldn't change anything.
Video-DVDs should work, regardless if a modchip is installed or not.

Probably it is your laser.

Hey TNA,

It was my laser , Got a new one off ebay (I Think) and it's done the job . Works perfectly
