    I have a DMS3 v1.0 in my v7 Pal ps2

I got the whole network shit and its tight except am I really safe?

I bought socom had a search and found out about DNAS protection etc... now how can I be sure that sony will not see me I heard that a ps2 modchip patchs 2 places on the ps2 mainboard mecacon bus and ps2 bios... using the R and A wires... but if I put the DMS3 into sleep mode is it really sleeping and not transmitting anything? or is it still sending codes to the mecacon bus and patching shit secretly or am I paranoid ?

Well You tell me, I dont wanna get banned from PS2 online!!! so i need to know exactly what I should do... how can I make sure the DMS3 is completely OFF no power zilch like its not even in there... or if I put it in sleep/stealth mode can I be safe? or will DNAS still detect it?

Please help me on this one

Also what games use DNAS and also what games Can I and can I not play with a modechip in sleep/stealth mode

Can I used backups online? (Probably dumb considering DNAS but which specific titles atm)

How can I be sure that my MOD is OFF when It goes to sleep/stealth mode?

This is what I do to turn my DMS off, try it with a backup to make sure, make sure your ps2 is in standby mode then hold the eject button until the tray ejects, it should now be off. Also, the only game I know that has DNAS protection is Everquest Online Adventures, I sometimes forget to turn off the modchip and get a (-402) error when it gets to the DNAS authentication, but I never get blacklisted.

what you have to realize is that unlike with xbox live the ps2 method of online gaming is completely different. whereas though with xbox live you have to register information with microsoft and the live system was obviously integrated into thier initial plans (ethernet/HD) that allowed them to insert certain aspects of prevention into thier system early.

sony doesn't have that luxury. they released a console that has a flashable memory area so more than likely any sort of detection would be impossible. and also i believe unlike live the game hosting is provided by the individual game manufacturers, that's why some games support the 3rd party ethernet adapters and some don't.

i don't think until we see the US release of the HDD will we have to even consider anything related to blacklisting...and even then the possibility is remote. Anyone else want to chime in w/ thier 0.02...because that was mines.

You do have to register you console (it makes note of the PS2 serial number and type) plus mailing address with the Network Adapter in Europe, they send a confimation code by snail mail so you must make it valid address.

In future all online games in Europe will use this registration system for gamer tags (you register a tag when signing up) similar to the Xbox Live service so you are very tracable.

This system may be later incorporated into the US but there's nothing saying they will at the moment
