Ps2 Not Reading Dvd's

Hey all

My friend gave me his ps2 as a birthday present. It worked fine at that time. I wanted to get it modified, so i sent it out to get magic 5 modded. When i got it back it couldn't read so I learned how to pot tweak, and it worked again. My friend (who gave it to me) wanted to borrow it, so i let him hold it. He said when he tried it no games would read. I finally got it back, tried it no dvd games read, didn't try any backups or cd type games, tried a music cd and it worked just fine. I tried pot tweaking the ps2 again since i fairly knew or thought i knew what i was doing. (left resistor dvd and right resistor for cd) It didn't do anything... Someone told me try my backup cd's and if they worked, or my regular blue back cd's, if they worked then it must be my laser and needs to be replaced, and he said or it might be a wire is loose in the system since a magic 5 chip isn't stable supposedly. Can anyone help me out here? I would much appreciate it. Thankyou for your time...

Is it a new PS2? If it was and you're tweaking the laser then you probably messed the laser up or something.

If it is an old PS2 then you will need to replace the laser.
