I just bought this setup for 200 bucks, is it a good deal?

Are there any problems with the hardware/HD Loader software version that is gonna come with it?

And i know i can copy cds.. but can i also network into the ps2 and upload ISOs like you can the xbox?

Like if i wanted to play imports etc...

    **********************************

    PS2 System SCPH-50001
(This system is pretty much brand spanking new. I had the Hard Drive on an older system but I swapped my old one with my friends 2 month old system and he sold my old one to Gamestop for credit)

    200 gig Maxtor Hard Drive
(This guy comes pre-loaded with some awesome games)

    Network Adapter
    (For Online play)

    HD Advance 2.0 Software
(This is the program you use to copy games to the PS2 HD)

    1 Black Dual Shock Controller
    (Sony Controller that's black )

    1 Memory Card
(Sony Memory Card that come with the System)

    Cords and Stuff
(Comes with Power Cord and the S-video input and audio cables)

    Pre-Loaded Games
(Here is the current list of games preloaded on the HD. You can delete or add other games if you'd like.

    Atelier Iris
    Capcom Fighting Evolution
    Castlevania Lament Of Innocence
    Devil May Cry 3
    Disgaea Hour Of Darkness
    Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly
    Final Fantasy X
    Final Fantasy X2
    Grandia II
    Guilty Gear Iskua
Lord Of the Rings Return of the King
Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater
    Onimusha 3 Demon Siege
Prince Of Persia The Sands Of Time
    Shadow Hearts
    Silent Hill 4 The Room
    Silpheed
    Suikoden 4
    Super Bust-A-Move 2
    Tekken 5
    Teh Bard's Tale
    The Suffering
    Y's: The Ark of Napishitim

and there is a total of 110 Gigs left in free space!

There are virtually 0 load times when loading from the Hard Drive. Plus you don't have to swap discs evertime you want to play a game. Also you can use any cheat device you desire if you are into that kind of thing. I had a codebreaker and it works fine.

I'll also throw in some random extras to anyone who picks this up. Like movies , promos and other stuff.

If you have any questions please PM me. Oh and check my feedback rating in the good traders forum. I've been trading and selling here for a while.

Oh this is an NTSC version.

    Thanks for looking guys.

    *******************************

Any help and or advice you guys can give would be greatly appreciated!

So far ive been an xbox fanboy but my new gf.. new PREGNANT gf wanted the PS2 cause she loves RPGs... sooooo im gonna give ps2 a chance

    I'd also like to know...

I read that there is a lot of patching when burning DVD-rs... is this also true for putting games on the hard drive?

Ive also read that people have trouble with dvd9 games. Because of the second layer appearing invisible unless in the ps2.. well since the game is in the ps2 drive to be copied to the hard drive, are there probs with the dvd9 second layer still?

I would love to buy and copy Gran Turismo 4, God of War, etc...

well, first off, obviously what you are buying is illegal, unless he is also providing you with the original discs those games are coming from.

anyway, just a couple of notes: you can't play games on the hd (for the most part, and at this time) online, even if they are normally online games; and in order to use a cheat device you have to patch it into the image of the game on the harddrive, to my experience.

but yeah, it's a good deal.

edit: also, the newer hdloaders (which are free d/ls) have no trouble with dvd9's, and god of war, gt4, etc work fine, but earlier versions will not work with these games.

its not illegal if the games are "free" with the purchase of the hardware

the guy is just selling a hard disk that he hasnt wiped clean

now using them if you dont have the original discs would be the illegal part

I hate to trample on your success here but there are couple of things about the setup that would concern me. One is the PS2 is a V9... which definatly isn't the best version... the lasers in them do not last very long... so try to stick completly with the hdd, which is my next point, Maxtor drives are pretty cheap (don't fight with me boys) infact I think they are the cheapest drives avaliable.

And cmon guys who doesnt pirate with a modded ps2

Anywho, other than that you got a pretty damn good deal... I may even be jealous
    My system:
    v7 NTSC PS2 Duo2 SE

Oh really? can i buy a replacement laser off of ebay or something?

I most likely WILL stick with the hard drive anyway... we already have a dvd player AND an xbox so it wont be used for movies... prob only to copy the games onto the hDD.

And as for the Maxtor drive... yeah i have to agree with you there.

Although, ive had an 80gb maxtor in my xbox for the last 4 years and its still running strong.

And just so i know, is it possible to connect to my PS2 hard drive through networking it to my pc as i can on the xbox and upload isos to it?

As long as the chipset has the romeo mod on it, V9 lasers shouldn't die too quickly. The V9 PS2 is designed to be compatible with DVD-/+R DVDs and I have found my V9 works fine without much special treatment.

But sticking mostly to the hard drive when you have it is a good idea anyway, as none of sony's PS2 lasers are particularly good.
