PS2 mod

Is it possible to mod up the ps2 without buying a mod chip. I modded up my xbox with out a mod chip. I just use a wire and a solder iron. So i was just wondering if anyone figured out a way for the ps2.

You mean you TSOP'd your xbox?

If so, no.. there's no such thing as a hacked BIOS for a PS2. PS2 and Xbox modchips are very different.. Xbox replaces the existing eeprom (and bios) completely. PS2 chips just modify the existing bios.. at least that's my understanding.

u need to buy a magic swap and swap disc . everytime to play a game it's better off to install a chip

Also what is the best mod chip to buy for ps2 i want to be able to make backups of my game to hdd and put homebrew software on it? I am new to the ps2 mod had mines when it first came out but been to lazy to mod it up lol since my xbox is my baby.
