It'd be cool to bable to chip your PS2 and drop a nice phat hard drive in it. Then load up a watered down Windows Media Center interface (more so the media center aspect and not so much the windows aspect.) and play media either on the hard drive or on a computer on the network (IE my current computer)

have it set up with menus like

Music (read form defaul directory, network directory, CD rom bay)
Video (read form defaul directory, or network directory, DVD rom bay)
    Pictures (again as above)
Games (HDD *directory*, Media bay CD/DVD homebrew etc)

Network (search the network/access the net, SYNC)
Update (chip firmware, media center software update)
    Setup (add remove features/ software)

of course completely user made the looks and feel of media center with a nice PS2 touch)

sofar two nice media center-eaque layouts is mediacenter and neros little media center) actually the PSP menu setup is rather nice..

as par the SYNC feature lets say you run SNES homebrew on your PS2 and you have SNES homebrew on your psp you cna plug the PSP in via USB and sync the home brew and other documents from one to the other.

    Just random thoughts I've had.

Using SMS and uLaunchelf together, you pretty much get that effect!

I was also looking at this "myPS2"if one could make CC2.0 boot this myPs2 by default like a OS replacement thats be pretty wicked. the defauly ps2 audio play would sufice fone if i could make the GUI stay in Myps2 and not go to the ps;aystation 2 defauly media player gui..

I guess what im looking for is the ability to use my ps2 like a psp... with sync optipns and any thing added off the core be able to be installed as a module to it, thus in using 'update' it would give me the option to chose what softwares im updating.

I really need to sit down and draft all this out on paper to see what my options are and any pros/cons before i go off modding

as it is now im looking at maybe starting a plan for a full out OZS replacement if i could find away to dumb down media center so the system demands were far less I'd do it.. then maybe build some sort of tuner to put in to the ps2. as well ...

even a dumbed down version of media center would be to much if one went ot play a game as media centerwould be running in the background.. thus taking up more resources. and the time for loading and shutting down said OS would take far to long..

I know theres apps out there like LaunchELF and SMS and such but I've failed to see the level of detailed intagration I seek for said project.

There are a few guys working on a project called Argon in the SMS section of the forum, that sounds like its what you're after. Even has a PSP style menu for you

Its still in the early development stages, but is already looking promising. Think their after anyone who with any programming knowledge who can help work on various bit of the project.

Think they're after a graphic designer to do backgrounds and visuals for the music player
