    hi
    i wonder if anyone know the catalog/model part number of the sony lasers , the v3 , v5 no cover and the v7
    some guy told me he ca get any sony parts but need original sony part number

    V5 also has a sanyo laser.
    V7 uses either khs-400c or sanyo

    so is the KHS-400C its the no cover v5 laser ?
    or the small v5-v7 laser with the plastic cover ?

    no, i think the one without black cover is sanyo, i've never seen it till now.

    Yes, the one with no cover is Sanyo and it appears in V5 and up models.

    See that yellow PS2 to the left? It's a V5 and it has a Sanyo laser.
    The Yellow PS2 auto-boots all. PS2, PS1 stealth and DVD movies.

    NOTHING else will work in it, even if it's the same version, the bios is different for open faced lazer models (different factory, I think)
