I'm concerned about where to get the laser. I heard there are very low quality 3rd party laser available. If you know where to get the original Sony laser and let me know I would greatly appreciate it incase my lens is dead in the future.

Well i highly doubt u'll ever be able to find an official sony laser unless u take it out of another ps2 cause sony would rather u have them fix ur ps2 so they can take ur money. I wouldn't worry too much about using a 3rd party laser cause from what i've heard in a lot of cases they work better than sony's. lol

That's the opposite of what I heard... I read on other messageboards that ppl didn't manage to get DVDs to work after changing lens. I remember reading a post about someone having this problem too.
I was wondering if you can help me with a problem I'm having for a long time now. I heard from other Magic3 users that the modchip is unstable but what does the unstable mean? Does it boot backup sometimes only or what?

It means that sometimes games will have freezing issues or u may need to reset a couple times to get a game to boot properly this is a more common prob wiht the magic 3.0. While the 3.1 still has some issues many of them were corrected in this version.

Thanks for the reply. Can you recommend me a website selling good PS2 lens? I might want to get one just incase.
