PS2 laser question –
Is it true that there is two lasers in the PS2, one for CD, one for DVD.
So if i abuse CD Rips, the motor might go.. but DVD will still be good and it won't effect the DVD side of things.
how come people can't play CDr, but DVDr still work?
This is because the laser has an IC which produces the laser light at two different frequancies one at 650Nm and one at 780Nm one for CDR and One for DVD. These are independant and can fail individually although on the same device.
exactly. think of it as though this ps2 laser has got 2 different parts, which read different disks in different ways. Now, if one of these fail, the other one is still intact.
You CAN abuse cd rips and so... but I wouldn't recommend it
Cd rips isn't that bad if you burn it at low speed, I know couple of ppl that only play cd rip games for more then a year and they never had a problem with it, But not everyone is that lucky on it.......
