I want to add a hard drive to my fat PS2 but my console is unmodded.

    How do I do this?

Do I need a Sony cd which the PS2 will read?

I assume you want you use your hard drive to store and play games. To do that, you need to either have a HDLoader disk or some method of running homebrew software. The easiest and cheapest way to do that is with Free MCBoot.

there are many methods depending on what you have already or what you can pay for. the easiest way is to get one of the installers to do it for you. this way you know it will work and you wont damage your PS2.

check out the installers thread in the homebrew forum.
