I am very new to the PS2 hacking scene so please tell me if this has been done before and if so where i can find it.

Today in the mall I saw the action replay USB chip that allows you to set the DVD region of the PS2 to play foreign DVDs and games. If it can do that, it should be possible to make a program that allows you to use any USB key drive to play backups of ps2 games without a modchip. This could be accomplished by having the program copy a valid key off a valid PS2 game etc (I think).

Also you should be able to use any usb key drive to do Action Replay cheats.

Please send comments or links to resources, I am a semi-experienced USB developer so I would be willing to start this project with help.

    Thanks
    -DC

But the DVD Controller/CDVD DSP accesses the DVD drive. Plus the Bios controls the copy protection. You would have to access them. I dont think it could work
