PS2 Faulty...need help!
PS2 Faulty...need help! –
I'm hoping the more enlightened members of this forum can help me out.
My son's PS2 has developed a fault.
When he turns it on the tv screen turns black and remains so.
This is the same with joypads plugged in/out, disc in/out, memory card in/out.
The last thing he used it for was watching a DVD, which worked fine.
Can anyone help me out with this problem or recommend a website i should visit?
Thanks for your time and help,
What version PS2 is it? Is it modded? If so, with which modchip?
Dont know what version it is ( lol, didn't realise there was more than one). Its not modded in any way.
Then how do you play backups? Swap magic?
he never said he played backup. do you get any sound?
Backups? sorry you've lost me there.
No sound just a black screen so I guess a signal is getting through to the tv. The ps2 logo doesnt appear. Its like the machine is on but not doing anything...if that makes sense.
By backups he means burnt copies of games. Some may be legal, some may be not ;p

I probably had two windows open and posted on the wrong thread or I didn't read carefully.

I'd be willing to crack the sucker open but havn't a clue what to look for inside that might be causing the fault.
not to sound mean (because it actual happens to me), but have you checked to make sure the connection to the TV is correct? If you use the RFU, perhaps its the faulty thing, or its just not connected snug into the PS2. If you use the A/V Cable, still, make sure its plugged in snug into the back of the PS2.
My RFU likes to fall out of the back of the PS2 just enough to cause a black screen with no audio and video.
